Curiosities of the Week

I love learning everyday, after all, knowledge is power. I spend a great deal of my time learning new things in a variety of ways, by reading a book, surfing the internet, talking to someone, anyway.

Sometimes I research something specific. Other times I research random subjects waiting for some interesting curiosity to tell friends over the weekend. Thinking about it, I gathered here at least 5 curiosities that I learned during the week:

# 1 - HR Factor in Pregnancy

This was by far the most interesting of the week. A friend of mine posted this subject on her WhatsApp stories saying that it is good for a couple to know each other HR factor to avoid complications with the baby, especially in future births. The RH factor is a blood factor that can cause your baby to die or seriously affect his health. This is more frequent in cases where the father has a positive HR factor and the mother has a negative HR factor. If the baby has Positive RH Factor (which means he has this RH Factor), the mother's blood creates antibodies to fight the child's blood since she has negative RH Factor (which means that she does not have this RH Factor). Because of this, doctors often advise the mother to take an immunizing injection to prevent future deliveries from being rejected by the mother's body. Search Google for more information on this. In fact, I strongly recommend you learn more about this, especially if you want to have children...

# 2 - Writing Exercises

Reading is important as already shown in one of my posts. But as important as reading is writing. It is so important that I plan to talk about it in a future post. Writing helps you better express your feelings, better organize your thoughts, stimulate your creativity, and so much more. So here I list some creativity exercises I read in this article online. Here are some of these tips:

  • Choose an event that occurred during the day and describe it in any style you want in ten minutes;
  • Take ten minutes and describe what your favorite character might be doing today;
  • Describe or imagine the story of an object in your home;
  • Write the events of your day as newspaper headlines;
  • Write three opening lines for three separate stories.

# 3 - 7 Natural Phenomena You Probably Don't Know

1 - Bioluminescence in the seas

2 - Frozen Flowers

3 - Snow Chimneys

4 - Lunar Rainbow

5 - Snow Cylinders

6 - Rainbow of fire

7 - Ice Finger

If you want to know more about each of these natural phenomena you can search Google that you will find...

# 4 - How to Manage Your Finances as a Couple and Still Be Autonomous

This was also very interesting to learn. If you are married or intend to marry, how do you manage your finances with your spouse? Do you have a joint account? Do you have separate accounts? What about your personal expenses? If both work, how much should each save for themselves and other expenses? You are sure to enjoy learning about this and how to best manage your finances as a couple. Take a look at the original article here...

# 5 - 7 Professions That No Longer Exist

That was the funniest thing to learn. I read in Megacurioso, an unusual curiosity site that showed 7 old jobs that existed during the 20th century and are very strange professions. From the "Human Alarm Clock" to the "Resurrectionist" you will see many other bizarre professions on this site in Portuguese (don't know if they have in English).

So? Which of these curiosities interested you the most? Comment below and see you tomorrow ...
